google Docs Ninja challenge

WALT- go back on what we did in cyber smart and use it in this google Doc. Reflection- the hardest thing about this document was when we had to answer the questions and  embed the doc on to my blog but now I know how to it.

thank you letter

Walt- do a storyboard to make thank you letters for people who help us in wellington.



reflection- it was fun for me because I  have never done a thank you letter with storyboard before.
Maybe next time I might add more information to this letter.

wellington locations

WALT - Pin point places in Wellington and find out how long it take to get from place to place. Reflection: this was fun but at the same time it was really hard for me because I have never don this before. I had lots of help from daniel he helped me measure how long it would take to get from place to place I would like to do it again. next time I might make mine a bit more interesting so people know where we are going.

Trust me with our future

Walt: write a speech that tells us about captivity,global warming and sustainability.

Kia ora I am Kiesha and I am going to tell you why you should trust me with our future. I feel very strongly about animal captivity and I believe it needs to stop I also know that plastic and global warming are massive problem for our environment so these are my second and third reason I have that you should trust me with our future. Listen up!

Captivity
I think it is bad that these animals are being held captive in cages or behind glass walls at the zoo while people pay money to watch these sad and unique animals for entertainment. I think this is really unfair because they don’t have enough space to roam, play, hunt or even raise their offspring because of the limited artificial space they get.
I remember seeing an ad about an elephant that is chained up and getting whipped to dance. This makes me feel really sad for them because of the way we are treating these very intelligent creatures.



sustainability
I think we should stop using non biodegradable plastic because it isn’t good for our oceans in fact it is actually polluting the ocean and killing our sea animals. Did you know that Plastic has to circle the world for about 450 years before it breaks down into tiny pieces of plastic these are called micro-plastic and the fish think the plastic is food so they eat it. It’s not just fish it’s turtles as well they think the plastic bags are jellyfish. I feel very sad for these beautiful animals because by the time we stop using non biodegradable plastic all the sea animals will be dead.

Global warming
I think we should stop burning fossil fuel like, coal,oil and natural gas because it releases to much carbon dioxide and too much carbon dioxide means too much heat is getting trapped in our atmosphere. Did you know that heat from the sun is trapped by 4 gases in our atmosphere called: Carbon dioxide, Water vapor , Methane and Ozone these gases are also called the greenhouse gases. When we burn things like fossil fuels ,coal and natural gases it releases too much carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is one of the gases that traps heat and too much carbon dioxide means too much heat is getting trapped in our atmosphere

Conclusion-
I hope you believe me now that we have a lot of work to do to make sure our environment is a safe a and happy place for everyone in our world. Thank you for listening.


reflection: this was pretty easy and a bit hard for me because I have never wrote a speech this long before I think I did well with the captivity speech and if I could change one speech it would be the sustainability because I don't like writing about plastic I enjoyed writing about captivity.

Ice Skating Fundraiser 

WALT- Advertise our ice skating fundraiser by doing  a persuasive poster.

I made this poster so I could persuade people to come to our ice skating rink in kaitaia. I used canva to crate this poster. I think canva is a great website to use when you want to make a book cover or a poster like mine. i found it really difficult because i have never made a poster like this before. but other than all that I think this poster is really cool.

Morepork/ruru

Hi my name is Kiesha and today I will be talking to you about the Morepork and why it is endangered and their history. I hope you enjoy.





Firstly, the Morepork is a yellow eyed night creature that sleeps during the day and hunts during the night. They are native to New Zealand and are also going extinct because of their predators the weasel, ferret, stoat, possum and rabbit. Hunters like to kill Morepork because they are slow so they are easy to catch. Hunters like to hunt these birds to make korowai.





Did you that in Maori tradition the Morepork was seen as a watchful guardian of the night. It belonged to the spirit world as it is a bird of the night but the high pitched “yelp” call was a sign of bad news or warnings to the people.





In conclusion I think Morepork need to be protected from the predators otherwise they will all die or go extinct because we weren’t protecting them.

Walt: this week we made Matariki posters  and learnt  that Matariki  could be translated as Mata Riki translates to tiny Eyes and Mata  Ariki translates to Eyes of god.

green sea turtles

Green Sea Turtles

Hi I’m Kiesha and I will be talking to you about green sea turtles and about their habitat. I hope you enjoy.

What do green sea turtles look like?

Turtles are all kind of different colours like dark brown,green ,olive ,yellow and black. Turtles look like rocks but with four flippers. Shells - turtles also have a tear shaped shell called a “carapace” which covers most of their body except for their head and four flippers.


What is the green sea turtles diet?

Green sea turtles are not like all turtles the green sea turtles are herbivores so they eat marine plants such as seaweed and seagrass scientists believe this unusual quirky- coloured fat is a result of their veggie diet.


What is the green sea turtles habitat?

Green sea turtles live in the ocean and can be found in nesting places along the coastline of more than 80 countries around the world. Turtles can also be found in New Zealand but not the green sea turtle only the leatherback and the green turtle.
